World's first theatre exclusively powered by wind
energy.
A Children's Theatre in the London Borough of
Merton has become the world's first theatre to be powered by wind
energy, with London's first ground-based new generation wind turbine
invented by Trevor Baylis, inventor of the battery-free wind-up radio.
The turbine will be used to supply 100% green electricity to The Colour
House Children's Theatre.
Director of The Colour House Children's Theatre,
Peter Wallder, is delighted with the project, saying: "It is
fantastic news for the theatre. Electricity costs theatres a lot of
money when you think of all the lighting, effects and heating that go
into productions… the electricity bill for us is now
non-existent."
