Isn’t It Time To Book Online?
The ‘Box Office’ has traditionally
been a volunteer role for most amateur drama societies, with the
members responsible taking orders over the phone or from printed
flyers. It can, as we all know, be time-consuming and complicated; and
for the booking audience member, it often might even seem as if the
system is designed for the benefit of the society rather than the
audience.
The last few years has seen the emergence of
various options specially designed to enable drama societies to sell
online. Some societies will simply print an email address or put an
email-generating form on their website enabling booking orders/requests
to be received - and then handle the tickets manually exactly as
before.
More professional options, however, are now
becoming much more attractive and affordable, these are comprehensive
online box office systems designed to meet the specialised needs of
amateur societies.
‘Positickets’ is one such service,
for example, available to all amateur societies, schools, charities
etc... The system allows audiences to purchase tickets online and
either have them posted, pick them up on the door or have them sent by
email as e-tickets, thus enabling the organisation to manage the sale
of their tickets more efficiently. Another benefit of this set-up means
cash from ticket sales can be accessed at any time if money is needed
for other elements of a production - which could be an invaluable tool
for many amateur shows.
