Cloud: A New Musical
An epic tale of forbidden love, hope and intrigue in a brave new world?
By Kaye Vincent and Kaye Tompkins.
In a future time, the human race has left a dying Earth. Small colonies tried to survive on other planets, but only one tribe remains, on the tempestuous Cloud. Join the survivors at Sharnbrook Mill Theatre Trust from 5th to 10th June 2017, where they’ll present this world premiere.
With a stunning score and thrilling plot, Cloud: a New Musical tells a story of hardship, hope, and conflicted love.
Hannah, a passenger aboard the final ship to leave Earth, falls alone into the colony on Cloud. Her arrival sparks tensions between the young, who yearn for adventure, and the elders, struggling to maintain order. Resentment also grows between the law enforcers and the workers, as resources run low. Passions run high and cracks appear as the Keeper (their spiritual leader) and Farin (their Governor) try to keep control of a population hemmed in between fiery lava fields and raging electric storms at sea. As the future of the Sand Tribes hangs in the balance, Hannah may be their last chance for survival.
Amid the action, struggles for power and forbidden love, are stories of misfortune and endurance. Above all, Cloud brings a message of hope. This is a tale of human resilience and the will to survive.
With a 40-strong company, featuring some of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire’s finest talent, the stage is transformed into a rocky seascape, with crags and caves, bizarre creatures and raging sea storms. This world is inhabited by a population of families, rebellious youths, council members, workers and spiritual guides. Cloud boasts soaring ensemble work, passionate solos and duets, including tribal hakas, young fishers swinging ropes and young sirens swinging their hips. A world brought to life by the vision of the creative team and the talent of the performers.
From the imagination of Kaye Vincent and Kaye Tompkins, the creative team behind Chase Dark and Wired …..this is not a post-apocalyptic future you’ve seen before…….
This is Cloud.
