Puttin' On The Ritz is one of the stable of music and dance shows from Spirit Productions. Focusing on the timeless classics of greats George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter; I cannot imagine anyone would not enjoy the visual extravaganza that brightened up a rainy Tuesday in Bromley.
Over forty songs, lovingly delivered by both male and female trios plus a bevvy of fantastic dancers. Guest appearances by 'Strictly' stars Anya Garnis and Robin Windsor plus the delightful Ray Quinn, made for a perfect evening.
The set was suitably dazzling, covered in sparkle, as was the immense range of costumes. A nod to the diffrerent eras, there were at least ten changes, each one as beautiful as the next. From a time where being classy ruled, the adage less is more definitely didn't apply here - thank goodness. Yards of feathers, sequins and chiffon of some truly beautiful dresses.
The special guests, whilst a welcome addition to the tour, were the cherry on the top of an already well-iced cake. The ensemble performers carried the show well enough themselves. Seeing three such professionals was an added bonus! Ray Quinn is such a charasmatic performer and shows he can truly turn his hand to anything.
Whilst the full house did have a fair number of older audience members, anyone that loves music from this era - especially music theatre fans and students - will have two hours of pure enjoyment.
Get Ritzy until Saturday 19th - all there will be trouble ahead...
