Whether you're 'strictly amateur', 'am-dram', 'non-professional', 'keeping your hand in', 'retired’, ‘resting', 'here for the beer' or maybe just 'starting out' …THIS IS FOR YOU!
At last, an exciting, informative, fun magazine for all amateur thespians and singers across London. And a huge Sardines' welcome to you all!
Firstly, let's get the big question you may have been pondering over out of the way. Why Sardines ...?
No, it's not just down to an overly passionate love of seafood. Indeed, many of you may have already guessed after glancing at the front cover. Yes, that's right! Inspiration swam our way from Michael Frayn's farce about a farce, Noises off.
The funniest play ever written? Certainly, a true standard bearer for many a society. It's a play that resonates deeply within those  artistic souls who stay up burning the midnight oil rehearsing or hammering away at the set before the 'morrow’s run! Our fishy title, of course, refers to Dotty's (or Mrs. Clackett's) multi-talented plate of Sardines. I hope that puts your mind at rest, and that you may even have had a snigger of recognition!
We hope to have the website fully functional by the end of January, when you’ll be able to look up other societies details as well register your own, get discounted subscription rates and catch up on all the gossip online. Our thanks for your patience in advance on that.
Now please don’t be shy; let me know what you think of our new magazine including any thoughts and ideas you may have for us to consider. You can contact me at:
