North Norfolk Chamber Opera, the only amateur opera society in Norfolk, will produce Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea in May, 2022.
Our Music Director, Mark Jones, will hold two sessions on Monday, 13th and Monday, 20th September from 7.30pm – 9,30pm, when he will introduce the opera and take us through some of the music. These two sessions are open to anyone who may be interested and will be at The Holt Youth Project, Old Station Way, Holt, Norfolk NR25 6DH.
There are 21 named roles plus ensembles. All voice types are most welcome. Those wishing to audition for the named roles will be expected to join the society, whether or not they attend the open sessions. Auditions are not required for those wishing to be an ensemble singer.
Monteverdi composed this opera specifically for church performance, and therefore our fully-staged performances will be at St. Margaret’s Church, Cley-Next-the-Sea.
