Suffolk’s Lowestoft Players have been posting photos from pantos-past to Facebook and, in the process, showing what societies, companies and charities up and down the UK have no doubt also been thinking.
Throughout January 2021 the group posted a number of uploads to its Facebook page saying: “This will be the first time in 51 years that The Lowestoft Players haven’t performed their annual pantomime in Lowestoft, so we thought we would take a nostalgic look at what we are missing.”
Like hundreds, possibly thousands, of similar societies around the country, pantomime is at the very heart of The Lowestoft Players’ season. These photos are taken from three of the society’s five productions of Dick Whittington. As well as 1979, 1991 and 2016 (shown here), the LPs also performed the title in 1985 and 2002.
