THE 16th WINDSOR FRINGE KENNETH BRANAGH AWARD FOR NEW DRAMA WRITING (Your News)

By Ann Trewartha

From 266 scripts received from 23 countries, 2019’s winner has been announced

A packed audience, waited with bated breath for our chair, Karen Darville, to undo the sealed envelope and announce the winning writer…

We have great pleasure in announcing that 2019’s winner is Suzanne Jeans, with her play An Absence Of.

Suzanne is a first-time writer from Cheshire. The two plays announced as runner-up One, Two, TREE by Adam Colclough, and The Ice Queen by Pete Barrett.

While all three writers told us that the experience of working with a director and seeing their play develop, is the best prize, the cheque for £500 which was presented to Suzanne is not to be scoffed at.

You can read Frank Kaye’s review of all three plays from this year’s Windsor Fringe on the Sardines website. Just search for ‘Windsor Fringe’.
