She Kills Monsters
The Company of Ten brings mythical creatures, epic battles, and magical realms to the Abbey Theatre Studio in January.
Report ContentShe Kills Monsters introduces us to Agnes Evans, an ordinary woman whose life takes a dramatic turn when she loses her parents and sister Tilly in a car accident. Despite their differences while Tilly was alive, Agnes embarks on a unique adventure to connect with her late sister.
This action-packed dramatic comedy deals with grief, sexuality, diversity and acceptance as Agnes battles to reach the truth about her sister – and about herself.
Agnes quickly learns that the key to her connection with Tilly lies in Dungeons & Dragons. The game provides the gateway into a fantastical realm revealing aspects of Tilly’s life Agnes never knew. On her journey she encounters a cast of incredible characters including a former demon overlord of the underworld, a demon queen, an elf, trolls, goblins, orcs, shapeshifters and a five-headed dragon. Oh, and some blood thirsty cheerleaders.
She Kills Monsters is a production with everything: love, heroes, villains, monsters, dancing, comedy, loads of 90s nostalgia and a whole heap of sword fights coordinated by Director Roger Bartlett who is a professional stage fight director.
In America this play has had over eight hundred productions since 2013, and this is one of the first in the UK.
‘It will slash and shapeshift its way into your heart’ said The New York Times.
Contains strong language, fantasy violence and sexual references
