How can I go to sleep in the middle of a story?”

The Tower’s family show this year celebrates the power of both the printed word and the imagination as young Kevin takes an epic journey through the volumes on his bookshelf

“This is for anyone who ever secretly read under the bed clothes as a child and who has ever been captivated by a story in a book “ (Alan Ayckbourn)

Young Kevin takes an epic journey through the volumes on his bookshelf while trying to solve the riddle of Rockfist Slim and the Case of the Green Shark. Alan Ayckbourn’s exuberant show for the whole family celebrates the power of the printed word and the wonders of the imagination.

Alan Ayckbourn has written a number of  family shows which are frequently thematically linked to one of his ‘adult’ plays. The Boy who Fell Into A Book directly inspired his later play Improbable Fiction. In a unique consecutive double billing this play is also being presented by Tower Theatre this October.

There will be a number of matinee and early evening performances during the run of the show – see here for details. The performance on Sunday 23rd October will be a relaxed performance and the matinee on October 22nd will be socially distanced.
