Sudbury Dramatic Society and The Quay are jointly presenting the powerful work, Maryland by Lucy Kirkwood; a ‘howl’ of rage written in response to the murders of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa.
The ‘scalpel-sharp’ 30 minute drama, recently performed at The Royal Court Theatre, documents the experience which far too many women face on a daily basis and the apathy and contempt with which they are treated. Kirkwood has donated her play to be performed, without performance rights, until the end of November.
The performance will take the form of a script in hand rehearsed reading which will be rehearsed and performed in one day.
There will be no admission charge, but there will be a retiring collection for Rape Crisis.
