History: Our first performance was the pantomime, Aladdin in 2007 followed by Show Time in July 2008 and another highly successful pantomime – Dick Whittington in 2009, Showmania in 2010, Snow White the Pantomime in 2013 (for which we were runners up in the SFD (Somerset Fellowship of Drama) awards for non-theatre pantomime) and Mother Goose in 2015, when Ian Smith, our dame was awarded Dame of the Year by the SFD. These awards seek to promote best practice in Pantomime production and recognise and encourage talent. We welcome people from all walks of life and capabilities, so even if you don’t fancy treading the boards, we need help backstage with props, scenery, costumes, hair and makeup, or front of house, selling tickets, serving refreshments etc … or just making the tea during rehearsals!

Barrington Players
Report Society
Your local amateur dramatic group, open to the whole community, entertainment for all.
Who we are and what we do
Barrington Players is a local amateur dramatics group run by an enthusiastic group of amateurs and a thriving membership of all ages,
We are based in Barrington, Somerset, and our performances are held in Barrington Village Hall.
Our first performance, the pantomime Aladdin, celebrated the opening of our newly built village hall in 2007. This has been followed by a succession of successful pantomimes, plays, variety performances and theatre suppers.
Our pantomimes have received many nominations and awards including runner up for Best Production by a Non-Theatre Society in the Cinderella Awards organised by the Somerset Fellowship of Drama, which each year represents around 30 pantomimes taking place all over Somerset and Devon. But the icing on the cake was when a couple of years ago our very own Ian Smith was announced Dame of the Year for his amazing portrayal of Mother Goose.
About us
Membership of Barrington Players is available for anyone – whether you want to act, build sets, create costumes, make the tea or just join in. Based in Barrington Village Hall www.barringtonvillagehall.btck.co.uk, we focus on having fun and it is a great place to meet friends and develop new skills. We have had a thriving membership of close to 50 in some years, of which more than half were juniors.
Why not join us and do something fun and rewarding?
Putting on a show involves people from all walks of life and capabilities, so even if you don’t fancy treading the boards, we need help behind the scenes and backstage with programmes, scenery, props, costumes, make-up and hair, or front of house, selling tickets, serving refreshments, etc.
Our annual trophy for ‘outstanding contributions’ from our juniors was last year presented to a young lad who has worked tirelessly and enthusiastically in the background on our sound and lighting for a number of productions.
This year we have a new committee (see below).
To join in the fun contact a committee member or email:Â membership@barringtonplayers.org
The committee
Malcolm Eustice (chair), Felicity Murray (treasurer, scenery and website), Claire Hart (marketing), Mick Glynn, Irene Glynn, Andrew Hale.
Patron: Lady Anne Wilkins
Please email enquiries@barringtonplayers.org for further information if you’d like to audition, or if you’d simply like to be part of the Barrington Players team of helpers – there are even more roles to be played off-stage!
