History: Cygnets began back in 1997, with a group of enthusiastic performers putting on some concerts in our first rehearsal home, Roehampton Parish Hall.
Our audiences loved them. And we had so much fun putting the concerts together that we decided to continue. Each year, we built on what we had, and got a little bit more ambitious.
Since those early days, we've gone from strength to strength. And now, with over 15 years under our belt, we perform three shows a year (two musicals and one play) at venues across south west London, and are one of the most well respected amateur groups in the area - a reputation we're very proud of.

Membership required for participation?: In order to keep Cygnets up and running, we ask all members for an annual fee of £25 (or £20 if you set up a standing order).
That entitles you, amongst other things, to be in a show and to get discounts at our social events.
We also ask cast members of each show to make a modest financial contribution to the production. Shows are expensive and we ask everyone to contribute in order to make it look and sounds as professional and strong as it should. Show fees vary for musicals and plays (there are also discounts for those in full time education or unemployed).
It represents really good value when you think about how many rehearsals you're going to get and what a professional team you'll have supporting you.
To join the company, you'll need to undergo a simple audition process (generally just a case of singing a song of your choice in front of a couple of committee members (or just acting for plays.), but if you're auditioning for a part in a show, this can also serve as your company audition.
But for any show, just come down and enjoy the first few rehearsals initially, and see if you like us (which we hope you do!).
If you're interested in getting involved, drop us a line on info@cygnetplayers.com.
Does the society run a youth group?: No

Cygnet Players
Report SocietyCygnet Players is a fun and friendly amateur theatre society, based in south west London.
We perform musicals, plays and sometimes also concerts, at least three times a year in different venues across south west London, with rehearsals in Southfields on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Sundays.
Our ever-growing membership includes people from aged 16-60, but we’re always looking for new talent! The society is a mix of people from all walks of life, who share a common interest. Whilst we pride ourselves on putting on high quality shows, we never forget that amateur theatre is a hobby and that it should be fun – you’ll find us a very sociable bunch.
Rehearsals usually spill over into the local pub and our social activities include bowling nights, quizzes, pub nights, treasure hunts, curry nights, and our annual barbecue and ‘Cygnets Entertain Cygnets’ (our special version of a Christmas party!) nights are always full of surprises.
You can have a look at the kind of things we do, both on stage and off, on our website at www.cygnetplayers.com.
Ultimately, everyone has one thing in common: we don’t want to sit at home every night, watching television! If this sounds like you, and you want to find out more about joining the Cygnet family, get in touch at info@cygnetplayers.com!
