History: The Dulwich Players theatre group was founded in 1969 following the amalgamation of two local drama clubs, The Dulwich Dramatic Society and The Village Players. During the 1970s and the 1980s the majority of their productions were performed at St. Barnabas Hall, in Dulwich Village. Today, they perform at various venues in the locality. The Edward Alleyn Theatre in Dulwich College offers an excellent facility for their main productions while the less formal and congenial surroundings at The Crown and Greyhound provide a more suitable venue for their various reviews and other fringe productions. They have performed in local schools, clubs and more recently on the ‘street’. Their bi-annual Open-Air Shakespeare in the grounds of The Dulwich Picture Gallery continues to attract large audiences and the society continues to move from strength to strength.
