History: Under the artistic direction of founder and administrator, Richard Parish, Lighted Fools took to the stage for the first time in March 2002 with a festival production of Kathy Mead's award winning play, "Reckoning" and reached the Divisional Final of the All England Theatre Festival, where it was runner-up to the eventual winner of the English Final. Productions of 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' , 'Noel and Gertie' , 'Skylight' , 'The Shakespeare Revue' , 'Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell' , 'A Number' , 'April in Paris' , 'Stones In His Pockets' , 'The Dresser' , The Dumb Waiter' , 'Shirley Valentine' , 'Not About Heroes' , 'Waiting For Godot' , 'Moonlight and Magnolias' , 'Visitors' , 'Art', 'Talking Heads', 'The Price', 'Larkin with Women', 'Death and the Maiden', 'Neville's Island', 'The Old Country', 'Two', 'Quartermaine's Terms', 'Stevie', and 'The Homecoming' have followed. Lighted Fools has received three invitations to take productions to the NDFA's British All-Winners Festival. In 2007, Caryl Churchill's, 'A Number' was presented at Llandrindod Wells, in 2009, Harold Pinter's, 'The Dumb Waiter' at Woking, where it won The NDFA Council Trophy as Runner-Up of the Festival and in 2012 Peter Tinniswood's 'Visitors' was taken to the Thwaites Empire Theatre in Blackburn where it was placed third with only two marks dividing the top three teams. The Company acquired a new home in 2011. THE PLAYHOUSE is, in fact, Unit 10 on a small industrial site in Wisborough Green, West Sussex and serves as a scenery store, workshop and rehearsal space. The company now presents its productions regularly at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre's Mill Studio.
