History: Sleaford Little Theatre was founded in 1950 by Mrs Evelyn Keilty who came to Sleaford in 1945 with a wealth of 15 years of experience to her credit. In pre-war day, the Corm Exchange and Picturedrome were available for amateur productions, but this was ceased and meant the society had nowhere to perform. A successful application was made to Sleaford Secondary Modern (now St George's Academy) for permission to use the main hall. During the summer of 1978 SLT was able to purchase the freehold of the Old Drill Hall, No. 11 Carre Street, which comprised a two-storey former Drill Hall with carriageway and a single storey extension running alongside the Slea Canal. Due to repair and maintenance costs, the Old Drill Hall was sold by the society and demolished. The society was again homeless and purchased the redundant Methodist Chapel in Great Hale. Finally, in 1993, the Old Playhouse in Westgate came on the market which the society could afford. And as they say, the rest is History.
