Eve McNamara – Eve, originally from North London, worked in a Bank in London’s West End where she made office wear for herself and her colleagues. Eve first learnt to sew at the age of 8 having been taught by her Nan. Ever since she has loved design, fashion and crafting. For the past 5 years she has been the Wardrobe designer for the Southport Dramatic Club Youth Group. Using a combination of items from the SDC stock, charity shops and hiring Eve has designed and costumed plays including His Dark Materials, Blood Brothers, The Haunting and Frankenstein and musicals including Guys and Dolls and Godspell. She has just worked on the SDC Youth production of Chicago. Eve also works as a member of the SDC backstage crew and is ASM Staffing.
Recently Eve has been working with Spotlights Musical Theatre group and has designed and costumed two of their recent productions Copacabana and The Wedding Singer.
Although working as an Accountant for over 35 years, Eve has always wanted to further her interest in the production of quality costumes and the acquisition of The Costume Store is the perfect way to achieve this lifelong dream.
Brendan Gillow – Brendan is originally from Ainsdale, Southport and has been involved in the Southport Dramatic Club from box office to stage door. Selling programmes and stewarding at Front of House to building and designing sets and crewing shows. He has played numerous roles over the years, from the simple one line to the leading part and has learnt the value of costume adding to and enhancing a part, particularly when they fit correctly.
A well fitted and chosen costume won’t make a good actor but it will make the actor feel good and that should help with the performance. Costumes should enhance, not detract and only portray what the Director and actor want.
Over the last 30 years his day job has been in Horticulture and specifically Operations and Logistics. The best fitting costume is no good if you don’t get it on time.
He has been the Chair of Productions for the last 3 years and is a past Chairman of the SDC. Brendan is a member of the Executive Committee and this year he has been voted on as a Trustee.
Eve and Brendan are very excited to bring The Costume Store and Costumes4Schools to the North West.
