Spider’s Web is a parody of the usual Agatha Christie fare – a light comedy version of a thriller. The audience know “whodunnit” but the police inspector doesn’t. There are multiple red herrings and just about everyone has a motive. There’s even a butler – did he do it? It’s an ensemble piece set in 1954 and there are a broad range of over-the-top characters to get your teeth into and make your own.
Director Liz Riley is keen to keep the twist at the end of the play a secret – even from BCP members not involved in the production!
Rehearsals will be on Sundays and Wednesdays, starting after 19 February 2022. There are three male roles (40s-60s), two male roles (30s), Clarissa is 30s, Pippa is a teenager. Playing ages of other roles are fairly flexible, and the Inspector and Constable can be any gender.
Auditions will take place at The Mill Arts Centre on 4 and 6 January 2022, 7.30pm, and will be a mix of sections from the play, as well as some group work.
