Free podcast from Southwell Theatre Club, ‘THE ASSASSINATION OF ROBERT OPRAY’
Southwell Theatre Club have a free to listen to podcast radio play, ‘THE ASSASSINATION OF ROBERT OPRAY’
Taking inspiration from other am-dram groups who have produced ‘virtual’ entertainment during lockdown, Southwell Theatre Club has a free-to-listen-to podcast radio play, THE ASSASSINATION OF ROBERT OPRAY.
Nearly thirty minutes long, the in-house produced comedy/drama was made via Zoom with actors using their smart phones to record their voices and then emailing to the producer/sound engineer to work some magic – and spend hours and hours putting it together!
…Amazingly, he’s up for a sequel!
Simon Blundell is a writer on a TV quiz show. He longs to be a serious writer but has been sucked into a cycle of writing scripts for the host, Robert Opray, who he hates. He hates him because he is successful, handsome, and women love him.
Simon wants to break free, but hasn’t any other income. His one big hope is that his play Amlet, will be put on by The National Theatre. His frustration builds up, and he vents it in the crass dialogue and stupid jokes that he puts into Robert’s mouth. But his hopes of assassinating Robert’s character, and exposing him as a fool, backfire when this only increases his popularity! When things go pear shaped nearer home, there is another kind of assassination to consider!’
