The School was delighted to announce that Daniel has received the coveted award, donated by Steinway and awarded in collaboration with the Royal College of Music.
Daniel has been playing the piano for 12 years and has gone from strength to strength since joining Trinity. On receiving the award, Daniel said: “I would like to thank Trinity and Steinway for this wonderful opportunity. I will be able to excel at my playing through the numerous events and lessons I will have with Professor Latarche, in addition to my regular piano lessons. I am excited to learn my new repertoire, plan out the structures of my upcoming recitals, and play in Mallorca, Venice and London in the year ahead.”
Richard Evans, Director of Piano at Trinity School, said: “I’m delighted that Daniel has become this year’s Steinway Scholar. He is a very talented pianist indeed and has always shown great commitment, but his recent development has been amazing. His drive and energy to improve his playing has been remarkable and I very much look forward to seeing his progress throughout the year”.
“I am really pleased for Daniel, he played brilliantly and deserves this prestigious award. All four finalists were excellent, playing with such confidence and maturity, reflecting the amazing playing standards and opportunities at Trinity School.” Professor Vanessa Latarche.
The Trinity-Steinway award recognises the finest pianist at Trinity School to help further their studies. The Scholarship is worth £1000, donated by Steinway, and is a collaboration between Trinity School and the Royal College of Music. It is awarded annually.
The award funds three lessons at the Royal College of Music with Head of Piano Vanessa Latarche, attendance at the International summer school in Mallorca and performances at the Trinity Piano Festival, Palazzo Cavagnis and Palazzo Pesaro, Venice. The year culminates in a final graduation recital at Steinway Hall, London.
