The blow on amateur and professional theatres in the UK was, to put it politely, catastrophic: Professional ticket sales (that’s all we could get, sorry) fell by 93% between 17 March and 22 April 2020, resulting in a 91% drop in revenue. 15,000 lost performances in the following three months meant that at least 7.8 million people missed out on seeing their show.
