Noises Off – German Style

Amateur theatre across the UK is slowly getting back on its feet after the tough coronavirus pandemic lockdowns, thwarting both amateur and professional productions everywhere.
In the case of The Lace Market Theatre in Nottingham the first lockdown in 2020 badly coincided with an arranged theatre exchange with two exciting shows planned and ready to go to Karlsruhe in Germany two weeks after the lockdown.
The unexpected cancellation affected actors and venues in both countries with many tears shed by those not able to enjoy the rendezvous once again with their European friends. Twinned German theatres, ‘The Jakobus Theater’ and ‘Theater Die Käuze’, reluctantly closed their doors to actors and audiences alike. There were, for quite some time, no noises on their stages, nor any noises off (hold that last thought).
